Having a baby on the way sparks an endless list of important questions - especially when it comes to doing a baby shower "the right way!"

• And don't miss my tip about the one day during the year you should never even think about holding the baby shower on! (And it's not a national holiday! I think you'll be quite surprised at this one!)

• Deciding where to throw a baby shower is as important as picking the perfect date.

• Refreshments and entertainment are two essential components of a baby shower – after all, besides the baby him/herself, they're what the shower is all about! We include original and effective ideas for refreshments and entertainment to inject life into your party!

• Chances are the future mom will need your assistance when it comes to writing a gift registration list – this daunting task is made so easy with my suggested gift list.

Christian Davis

"I wish the facade of normality would return, for knowing you has shattered my conception of reality."

Middle school years were, by far, the worst years for me. I was very awkward and other than my best friend Grace, I was kind of a loner. I noticed a disparity between the way we were treated in Jr High as opposed to those who were deemed "favorites" of the youth leader. Grace and I were often overlooked by the youth leader which was fine. We got along fine without him. We got used to being left out of special Bible studies and accepted the fact we weren't "cool" enough to be part of the in-crowd. However, I many occasions I left Jr High miserable and unwanted. I don't think I would have stuck Jr High out if it hadn't been for Christian Davis. Some may argue this is an insignificant point, who cares if I stopped going? It's only two years of your life anyway. The thing is many students who stopped at Jr High found it difficult to get re-plugged in later and CFC has lost many students because of this. And I am not the only one to have stated I would have left it hadn't been for Christian, so many students felt the same way. You see, Christian Davis made Jr High. Jr High went from barely tolerable to fun because of him. Though I was overlooked by the youth leader I was cool in the eyes of THE coolest leader in Jr High. He was so crazy and had more energy then all the kids combined. If I could relate him to a celebrity I would say Jim Carry in Ace Ventura Pet Detective, seriously.
I'll never forget the first day I met him. In 7th grade your first experience of Jr High was called Gym Jam. Gym Jam consisted of high energy game that paired you up with different students to help you meet new people. But before the games would begin the leaders would each introduce themselves. When it got to Christian, he ran at the basketball hoop, leaped up and landed with athletic prowess on the hoop and gave his introduction from there. I can't remember a word he said about himself but I remember laughing hysterically the whole time. Christian had that affect on everyone; he had a natural ability to make you laugh no matter how bad of a day you may have had.
From there things only got better. Before the end of that first night Christian had gone out of his way to talk to every student. It didn't matter if you were cool, lame, weird, loud, quiet, shy, exct he wanted to get to know you. Labels just didn't apply in his eyes. Somehow he saw everyone as needing to be loved and accepted no matter how you acted or what you thought. A true picture of God's heart for people.
Over the next two years he went out of his way to get to know me. If he noticed I seemed down he took it upon himself to make me laugh and he always succeeded. His enthusiasm for life was contagious. I think it is fair to say its next to impossible to be depressed around him. His positive attitude affected everyone. Two things come to mind when I think about him: his constant battle cry of "Yeaahhhhhhh" and his mushroom joke. For 2 years he told the same joke before Sunday school would begin. He would somehow start the joke differently every time to keep it fresh and as soon as he said the punch line the whole room would roar with laughter as if it were the first time we heard it and the best joke ever told. Two years of the same joke! Incredible! What's funny is that the majority of the students, including myself, didn't even get it. The joke was simple: "A mushroom walks into a bar and the bartender said, "We don't serve your kind here." The mushroom said, "Why not? I'm a fungi."' What's great was that most of us had no idea what a fungi was but we laughed on anyways. You see the joke wasn't funny, and that's the point, it was just Christian.
Another memory I have of him was on a Jr High trip called Jungle Jump Off. I'm so blessed I had the opportunity to go on this trip because this trip was never offered again. The premise of the trip was to live like a missionary would in a 3rd world, tribe-like community. We slept in huts or hammocks, took cold showers in these wooden boxes, and used an outhouse for a bathroom. We were spending a week there and each day we had an assignment or goal. We started by touring Wycliff's site where missionaries are trained and prepared for the field. They set up a cultural experience so we could get a feel for living among a tribe. There were people dressed up like aborigines and they spoke in another language and were set up in a hut. It was very realistic. After that we had a 3-day work week set up for us. We were expected to clear acres of land and for Jr Highers they assumed we wouldn't even finish the job by the 3rd day. This is where Christian comes in. He set the tone for us. He worked hard and enthusiastically and encouraged all of us to do our best. He pushed us past what we thought we could handle. We ended up finishing all of the work in less than one da

Hello, my name is Jersey and I am the best looking black lab ever to be found on the streets of the south. I am only about a year old and weigh about 55 lbs. My sad story began with me looking high and low for my puppies. You see, it was raining for days and I was full of milk and terribly skinny but I could not find my puppies. My foster parents spotted me and tried to help. We banded together to search, but could not find my babies. If I were going to survive, I knew I had to go with my rescuers and call off the search.

Since then, I have been showered with love that I never imagined existed. I enjoy a good walk and a great game of chase in the back yard. I also like helping with laundry - I am the BEST at unfolding towels! I will fetch, sit, and wait when told. I love to have my chest scratched more than anything! What sets me apart from other black labs is definitely my appreciation for life and my ambition to be a fantastic member of your family!
I love to run through puddles and to go for rides in the car! I am curious about cats in a playful way. I love toys and don't mind sharing (in fact, I love to play with other dogs!) My foster mom thinks I would be great at agility, and she says I have a beautiful soul and a loving heart!
